Can I do this?

Ask anyone who has completed a marathon: the first step is often the scariest. We understand. The ALPHA Running program is designed to ease you into a routine of running and walking that will gradually build both your endurance and confidence.

Do I need to be in shape to train with ALPHA?

No. ALPHA Running offers two program levels: beginner/intermediate and advanced. We strive to accommodate the fitness level of each of our members, assisting both beginning marathoners and seasoned enthusiasts reach their full potential.

Who said running was a solitary sport?

If you're looking for support and camaraderie to keep you motivated, there's nothing like the Team ALPHA. You will develop long lasting relationships and friendships as you get to know your fellow participants during our Pace Group based workouts.

Our experienced coaches will be there to inspire and support you every step of the way to give you the friendly advice and instruction you need to go the distance.

Does the program offer timed pace groups?

Absolutely. There is no STRONGER force than that of the group dynamic! Fun and friendship are two key elements of the ALPHA Running program and there is no greater satisfaction than the support and camaraderie you will receive from the long lasting friendships that will form amongst your Pace Group as you all progress towards a common goal.

During the first week of training we will conduct a time trial to access your fitness level and running ability. We will than organize pace groups based on the ability of each participant and assign specific intervals (Run/Walk Ratios - or the amount of time you spend walking and running over a set period of time) to the groups so as to afford everyone the opportunity to progress gradually to reduce the chance of injury.

Why is it so important to have qualified coaches?

The ALPHA team of certified coaches plays a key role in motivating and challenging you to reach your goals in a fun, safe and effective manner to help keep you healthy and injury free.

Throughout your training they will be there to evaluate your current fitness and goals to make sure you are training at an appropriate level and suggest ongoing ways to improve your performance while helping you adjust your schedule in the event of an injury or missed training.

Do I have to show up every Saturday?

Although the power of the group dynamic is intoxicating and the support of your fellow Pace Group members will be extremely helpful throughout the training process, we all lead busy lives that may require you to miss an occasional workout.

No reason to worry, however, as each member will have access to the training schedule for the entire program and the coaches will be there to assist you if you have any questions you may have in the event that you need to miss a training session.

I'm an experienced marathoner... Why would I participate?

There are numerous perspectives amongst experienced runners, however, whether your intention is social, your next competitive PR (Personal Record) or to qualify for Boston, everyone can use that "extra edge"? to continue to increase their level of running efficiency in pursuit of their next goal.

Our advanced program* is designed to meet such a need. Led by our Track & Elite Coach, Boston Marathoner, Trevor Marca. Our advanced members will follow an intensified training regimen designed and coached by Trevor personally to serve their advanced requirements and help develop their existing running ability in order to take their passion to the next level.

*The advanced program is limited to the top 20 first day time trial qualifiers. Interested participants MUST be able to run at least a 24 minute 5k during the first day qualifier to be considered for the advanced program.
